What is CBD & Why You Should Try It

There’s a lot of misunderstanding surrounding CBD products, so we thought we’d offer up this helpful guide. Cannabidiol (CBD) has been associated with a wide range of health benefits when applied topically or inhaled – but how much truth is behind that?

What is CBD, and what are CBD self-care products?

Hailing from the cannabis sativa plant, cannabidiol is a chemical compound that has been harvested for its health benefits for hundreds, even thousands of years. Cannabidiol is most commonly used in self-care in the form of CBD oil, or CBD lotions and rubs, bath bombs, roll-ons, you name it.

The tricky part with CBD is that a lot of people confuse it with its cousin, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psycho-active component of cannabis. Unlike THC, CBD products do not have mind-altering effects.

How do you use CBD?

Before purchasing CBD self-care products, you need to figure out what you’re going to use them for. The benefits of CBD can be reaped in a few ways:

  • CBD oil, usually diluted with carrier oil, can be used for massages, but can also be inhaled, to treat internal ailments;

  • CBD lotions, roll-ons and rubs can also be used for CBD massages, and also applied topically to soothe pain, for instance;

  • CBD bath products, like bath gels and bombs.

What are the benefits of CBD?

Below, we look at the different ways in which you can incorporate CBD in your self-care routine, and how each treatment can be beneficial for your health.

  1. CBD Skin Treatments.

CBD has actually been taking the skincare world by storm. Studies have found that CBD oil, when applied topically, can inhibit the production of sebum in the skin, thus relieving acne.

CBD skincare oils also harness the anti-inflammatory properties of cannabidiol to relieve itchiness. This makes them a useful treatment when dealing with eczema or psoriasis.

  1. Inhaling CBD.

Another way to use CBD oil is to inhale it, and thus reap the beneficial properties of CBD in a quick manner. When inhaled, CBD also works to soothe pain, and also to relieve anxiety.

Studies have also shown that CBD can have a positive effect on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as tempering social anxiety.

For a more pleasant experience, you can rub and inhale CBD oil mixed with an essential oil, like citrus CBD oil, or peppermint CBD. A pleasurable smell can also be calming.

  1. CBD Bath.

Speaking of relaxation, there’s nothing more relaxing than a nice, hot bath. The CBD Power Bath Bomb harnesses all of the anti-inflammatory, stress-relief benefits of cannabidiol in a fun, and pleasant manner. Just soaking in CBD-infused water for 20 minutes can have a wonderful effect on stiff muscles, joint pain, and your mental health.

Tip: As a boost, our CBD Power Bath Bomb also boasts the healing addition of peppermint oil, lavender oil, and of course, rosemary oil. Each one of these has a soothing, strengthening effect on your health, while the scents compliment one another.

Alternatively, for all of your citrus fans out there, why not check out the Lavender Lemonade CBD Bath Bomb, or the Lemongrass CBD Bomb?

  1. CBD Massages.

Getting a CBD massage is a life-altering experience, since it has so many benefits for you. CBD has anti-inflammatory properties that offer relief to stiff muscles (including sprains, tears, and other common forms of inflammation).

Because of its soothing qualities, CBD may also have a positive effect on fibromyalgia and arthritis.

There are a number of ways to get a CBD massage. You can apply a CBD muscle rub on sore spots daily. After all, you get the best results through regular use.

You can also schedule an appointment for a CBD massage with a licensed professional, at one of our three locations. In our CBD massage sessions, we use our dedicated in-house CBD Hemp tincture, both as a pre-massage treat, and also as part of the massage oil itself. And for those extra rocky parts of the body, we employ our signature CBD pain relief lotion. You’ll leave our office feeling relaxed, happy, and pain-free.

Just choose the location that suits you best, pick the length of the massage, and enjoy!
